Growing up the oldest of three in a completely crazy family in Texas set Michelle up for one of two things; she could
either become a sociopath or a comic. She chose comic.
"I've always considered comedy a form of therapy; if you can find the humor in your life, both the good and the bad,
then it makes it a little more bearable. I'd rather laugh than cry any day and if I can make others laugh, well, that's
even better. What's that saying "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?" Well, my motto is "When life gives
you lemons, come up with a good punchline."
At 19, she took the stage for the first time in front of a sold out crowd at the world famous Improv Comedy Club.
"I was scared to death. I had taken this comedy class and it was our "graduation" performance. I wanted to barf. I told
myself "If this doesn't go well, I'm never doing it again. If it does go well, I'm never turning back."
Michelle's clean, original approach to comedy is as relateable as it is hilarious and appeals to audiences of all types,
proving that "funny is funny" regardless of age or gender. With her quick wit and sarcastic charm, she takes you on a
one of a kind journey through her life and introduces you to the unforgettable characters that inhabit it.
"People always want to know what "type" of comedian I am. What my "thing" is. To be honest, I don't think I have one.
I am a clean comedian, I am a Christian, but I don't think I'm your average "Christian Comedian." I don't have "church
jokes for church folks"; instead, I want to reach a broader range of people; prove to them that you don't have to
choose to either be "cool" or a Christian. You can be both. I wasn't raised in church and I started my comedy career
on the wrong foot, but I feel like I'm meant to honor God by using the gift that he gave me and to make sure that I do
it in a clean, positive way. I can relate 100% to those people who are struggling in their faith or who haven't quite
reached the point of fully turning their life over to the Lord. I was there myself not too long ago. It's hard. You can get
alot of slack from people, but ultimately, it's SO worth it. Even in an audience of thousands, I've learned that there is
ultimately only one person I have to please and that's God. As far as material goes, I don't do current event or
political jokes and I suck at impressions. To me, there is nothing funnier than real life. That's why all of my material is
based on me, my life and the people in it. I guess as long as you've ever had friends, a family, a job, a significant
other or left the house, you should be able to relate."
In 2004, Michelle met her husband, Matt and relocated to Atlanta. She has since continued to make a name for herself,
becoming a regular at the nation's top comedy clubs and performing for countless corporate clients and charities. In
2008, she created the breast cancer fundraiser "Ha Ha's for Ta Ta's" with proceeds benefiting a variety of breast
cancer organizations. In 2009 alone, Michelle has raised over $5000 for breast cancer research.
